Jungle Jim's...Rediscovered
Yesterday my friend, Sanna, and I took a trek out to Jungle Jim's for a shopping excursion. It had been several years since I had gone and the place recently went through a rather large renovation. JJ's is this amazing grocery store that stocks all kinds of fascinating high quality foods that are imported from everywhere, as well as loads of local fare. I was in foodie heaven, I won't lie. Many of the aisles were like taking a trip down memory lane as there were items I hadn't seen or eaten since childhood. I must have spent a good half hour in the Italian aisle alone. I think I screamed a little when I saw the pizza sauce from Little Italy in Cleveland as well as the acini di pepe.
When I saw the can of Cafe Du Monde coffee....well, let's just say, I got a little tingly. I loved Cafe Du Monde when I visited New Orleans years before. Once you go, you will go over and over until you leave the city, trust me. The long lines were well worth the wait for that chicory coffee and those indescribable beignets. This morning I brewed some of that lovely coffee in my brand new french press (purple of course) and another great find at JJ's. Served that up with the Challah bread and yummy apricot preserves that were purchased as well. Perfect way to start a relaxing Sunday morning.
